Speed display board installed
HOWARD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has installed a radar-controlled speed display board along Route 26 in Howard Township, Centre County, to encourage motorists to slow down.
The board faces northbound traffic on the bridge between Hillcrest and Mill streets, where the posted speed limit is 25 mph. Using radar, the sign detects the speed of approaching vehicles and displays it to drivers.
PennDOT said the board will remain in place for four to six weeks.
According to the agency, aggressive driving — including speeding, running stop signs or red lights, illegal passing and tailgating — was a factor in 61% of crashes in Centre County in 2025.
Fish-for-Free Day on July 4

For those who wish to enjoy fishing beyond the Fish-for-Free Day, a fishing license can be purchased at FishandBoat.com.
