Milroy Presbyterian Church chicken barbecue canceled
MILROY -- The chicken barbecue scheduled for Saturday, July 18 at Milroy Presbyterian Church, 321 S. Main St., Milroy, has been canceled due to smoke and air conditions, and potential rain on Saturday.
Round Table to host historian Jonathan Noyalas
STATE COLLEGE -- The Central PA Civil War Round Table will host Civil War historian Jonathan A. Noyalas as its featured speaker during its next meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Activities Room at the South Hills School of Business & Technology, 480 Waupelani Drive, State College.
Noyalas, who holds the Hugh & Virginia McCormick Chair in Civil War History at Shenandoah University, will present "After I Am Gone: The Battle for General Philip Sheridan's Legacy & Memory."
Noyalas also serves as director of Shenandoah University's McCormick Civil War Institute. He is the author or editor of 17 books, including General Philip H. Sheridan: Life, War, and Memory and The Blood-Tinted Waters of the Shenandoah: The 1864 Valley Campaign's Battle of Cool Spring. He has written more than 100 articles, essays and reviews and has appeared on C-SPAN's American History TV and PCN. He has also consulted on public history projects with the National Park Service, the American Battlefield Trust, National Geographic and the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in joining the Central PA Civil War Round Table.
