Fishing, boating access to close along Route 22 for repair work

From staff reports

MIFFLINTOWN — A fishing and boating access area along eastbound Route 22 in Juniata County will be closed July 13-16 while crews complete rehabilitation work, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The temporary closure will allow contractors to perform concrete roadway patching at the Juniata River access area, improving ride quality and extending the life of the pavement.

The work is part of a $5.6 million highway restoration project on Route 22 between the Business Route 22/Lewistown interchange and the Juniata-Mifflin County line, about two miles east of the interchange.

The project also includes highway restoration, guide rail installation, pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction.

JVI Group Inc., of York Springs, is the contractor. PennDOT expects the overall project to be completed by Labor Day, weather permitting.

Motorists are urged to use caution in the work zone, watch for workers and equipment, be prepared for sudden stops and avoid following construction vehicles into closed lanes.

Starting at $3.75/week.
