Victim, suspect identified in McClure homicide, fatal crash
From staff reports
McCLURE — Pennsylvania State Police have identified the victim and suspect in a homicide and fatal crash that prompted road closures across western Snyder and eastern Juniata counties Sunday.
Troopers said Amanda Heimbach, 37, of McClure, was found dead inside her home in the 30 block of West Specht Street shortly before 5 a.m. Sunday after police were dispatched for a reported homicide.
Investigators identified her husband, Jason Heimbach, 51, of McClure, as the suspect. Troopers said he fled the scene in a gray Buick Enclave registered to Amanda Heimbach.
Authorities closed multiple roads in the area and urged the public to avoid western Snyder and eastern Juniata counties as they searched for the vehicle.
At about 10:40 a.m., troopers responded to a crash in the 8000 block of Route 104 in Perry Township, Snyder County, south of Mount Pleasant Mills. According to police, the Buick Enclave struck a parked tractor-trailer and caught fire.
Jason Heimbach was found dead inside the vehicle and was identified as the driver, police said.
Snyder County District Attorney Heath Brosius said on Sunday that authorities were initially notified of the incident after a man, believed to be the victim’s husband, called 911, reported the woman’s death and indicated he intended to take his own life.
The investigation remains ongoing. State police have not released additional information about Amanda Heimbach’s death or said whether the driver of the tractor-trailer was injured.
