Juniata County man killed in pedestrian crash

MIFFLINTOWN — A 74-year-old Juniata County man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing William Penn Highway on Wednesday night, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Joseph Barrick, of Mifflintown, was struck at approximately 9:13 p.m. while in the roadway, according to state police at Lewistown.

Police said the driver, a 19-year-old woman operating a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, attempted to swerve to avoid Barrick but was unable to avoid the collision. Barrick was thrown from the point of impact and died as a result of his injuries.

The driver remained at the scene following the crash, police said.

State police continue to investigate.
