Empowered Caregiver webinar series hosted by Penn State Extension
UNIVERSITY PARK — Family members and friends caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias who want to strengthen their caregiving skills while supporting their own mental and physical well-being can gain insight by attending free webinars hosted by Penn State Extension in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association.
The workshop series will occur from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. as scheduled.
“Building Foundations,” June 26. Webinar will explore the role of the caregiver and learn how to build a support team to care for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
“Supporting Independence,” July 10. Webinar will explore strategies to help individuals living with dementia remain engaged in daily activities.
“Communicating Effectively,” July 17. Session explores how dementia affects communication and offers practical strategies to improve understanding, reduce frustration, and strengthen interactions.
“Responding to Dementia Behaviors,” July 24. Participants will learn how to interpret behavior changes as communication, discover practical non-medical strategies to manage challenging behaviors, and recognize when to seek additional support.
“Exploring Care and Support Services,” July 31. Session explores how to prepare for future care decisions and navigate changes over time.
Registration deadlines vary by event; organizers encourage preregistration for the webinars, which can be found on the Penn State Extension website. Registration is required to receive the webinar link. A link to the recorded webinar will be emailed to registrants within 10 business days after the live event. The recording will be accessible for six months from the event date.
