Geisinger Lewistown earns state honor
Hospital recognized for maternal and newborn care initiatives
LEWISTOWN — Geisinger Lewistown Hospital is among five Geisinger hospitals to receive recognition from the Pennsylvania Perinatal Quality Collaborative for efforts to improve maternal and newborn care.
The hospital recently earned a Silver Designation Award from the PA PQC, which recognizes hospitals that establish multidisciplinary teams dedicated to sharing best practices and data to improve outcomes for mothers and infants. Geisinger Lewistown Hospital was recognized alongside Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Geisinger Medical Center in Danville and Geisinger Wyoming Valley.
The hospitals received silver designation for projects focused on health equity and incorporating patient voices into quality improvement efforts.
“Geisinger has been actively involved with PA PQC since its inception in 2019. Our teams have consistently been recognized for their excellent work on projects aligning with the focus of PA PQC,” said Sandra Culbertson, chair of Geisinger’s Women and Children’s Institute. “This work aligns well with the mission of Geisinger and reflects the dedication of our providers and nurses.”
The awards were presented during the PA PQC annual conference at the Blair County Convention Center. Designation is based on hospitals meeting quality improvement milestone criteria over a 12-month period.
