Fireworks are set to light up the skies above the Juniata Valley once again as communities gear up for the Fourth of July — and with America’s 250th anniversary, this year’s celebrations promise an even bigger bang.

From Lewistown’s June 28 kickoff through Independence Day, a full schedule of events will bring crowds together for music, food and dazzling displays across the region. Here’s a glance (as always, it’s weather permitting):

Lewistown Fireworks — Sunday, June 28: The first major show lights up the sky in Lewistown on Sunday, June 28, with fireworks scheduled for 9:30 p.m. along Helen Street. Sponsored by the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mifflin County Commissioners, the event traditionally draws large crowds from across the region.

The best viewing spot is the field adjacent to MCIDC Plaza along Route 103 North, offering a clear view of the display. The evening begins well before dusk, with the Lewistown Community Band presenting its “Let Freedom Ring” concert at 6:30 p.m. at the

Embassy Theatre on West Market Street. The performance will feature a community choir and dancers from Miss Stephanie School of Dance, adding a patriotic tone to the kickoff celebration.

Food Trucks and Fireworks — Thursday, July 2: Granville Township will host its inaugural Food Trucks and Fireworks festival on Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Granville Fire Company Event Center. The new event is expected to draw families with a mix of food vendors and activities, including a cornhole tournament.

As a first-time festival, organizers are aiming to build a new community tradition centered on summer fun and fireworks. Check the fire company’s Facebook page for updates.

Armagh Fireworks and MCS Bank Festival — Friday, July 3: Milroy’s Armagh Fireworks and MCS Bank Festival returns on Friday, July 3, from 5 to 9 p.m., offering an evening filled with live music, food trucks and inflatables for children. The celebration builds toward a fireworks display at approximately 9:20 p.m., weather permitting.

Popular viewing areas include Commerce Drive and surrounding parking lots, which provide clear sightlines for the show. The combination of entertainment and fireworks continues to make this one of the area’s standout July 3 traditions.

Hungry Run Distillery Fireworks Celebration — Friday, July 3: Hungry Run Distillery will host its own celebration on July 3, from 6 to 11 p.m. The event features live music by Houston Baker, along with a food truck and the distillery’s signature cocktails.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the evening before the fireworks begin. Reservations are required, offering a more relaxed and intimate alternative to larger public gatherings.

East Waterford Fourth of July Celebration — Saturday, July 4: East Waterford’s full-day Fourth of July event begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at 4345 Horse Valley Road and runs through the evening. The celebration includes a flea market, helicopter rides starting at noon and live music by the Withered Band at 5:30 p.m.

Food vendors, including Ally Kat, will be on site, with ice cream provided by Antietam Dairy. Fireworks are scheduled for 9:30 p.m., with a rain date of July 11.

America250 at Speed Palace — Saturday, July 4

The Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal will host its America250 event on July 4, from 1 to 5 p.m., offering a free day of family-friendly activities. Attendees can expect bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals and more.

Live music by Bella Donna runs from 4 to 6 p.m., leading into a fireworks display to close out the celebration. The event provides a festive and accessible option for families looking to mark the holiday together.

With events stretching across several days, the Juniata Valley offers no shortage of opportunities to celebrate under the summer sky — each show adding its own spark to a milestone year for the nation.

Starting at $3.75/week.
