LEWISTOWN — By tonight, the LUMINA Center in Lewistown will be buzzing as families stream in for a free Family Fun Night built around simple fun and easy togetherness.

Families can browse a book sale, enjoy baked goods, make crafts, join a kids’ dance party or settle in for story time at the center, located at 18 E. Third St., Lewistown. Food trucks will be on site, turning the event into an easy night out that supports the center’s mission of serving local youth and families.

It’s just one of the many things to do this weekend. Check out a few of the others:

Blacksmith demonstrations, Nature Table at Greenwood Furnace

Summer weekends at Greenwood Furnace State Park in Huntingdon bring two chances to learn something new. Volunteer blacksmith Don Maurer will fire up the forge on select dates from June through September, giving visitors a close look at early American metalwork inside the historic shop.

Families can watch iron take shape and hear how blacksmiths once supported daily life in the furnace community. This weekend, there are demonstrations today from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

On Saturday, from 1 to 3 p.m., the park’s Nature Table adds a second layer of discovery. Kids can stop by the breezeway of the beach house to explore frogs and other amphibians with park staff in a relaxed, hands-on setting.
