Several first responders from Mifflin County recently completed 40 hours of Crisis Intervention Training at the Birch Hill Event Center in Burnham. The course focused on understanding mental illness, de-escalation and reducing arrests by diverting individuals to mental health services. Lewistown Police Department officer Joe Lyter graduated, which brings the department up to 100 percent of officers who have completed this training.
