Lewistown man charged with possession, summary driving offenses

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were monitoring traffic on the 100 block of South Walnut Street in Lewistown at 9:52 p.m. on April 9 when a vehicle’s registration alerted to being expired, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers stopped the vehicle on Edgewater Avenue and the driver was identified as Breydon R. Kibe, 20, of Lewistown, whose license was suspended, the report said. While speaking with Kibe, officers saw a bag of marijuana protruding from his pocket which Kibe surrendered to the officer, the report said, and Kibe was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and summary driving offenses.

Elderly resident victim scammed out of $2,600

LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Police Department is investigating a complaint from an 80-year-old resident that someone allegedly called them offering to help protect them from scams at 10:23 a.m. on Apri 10, according to a release issued on Thursday. The resident provided information to the caller, the report said, which allowed them to withdraw $2,600 from the resident’s bank account.

Lewistown man charged with burglary, other offenses and lodged into jail

LEWISTOWN — Tristan Bonilla, 26, of Lewistown, was charged with burglary and several other offenses by the Mifflin County Regional Police Department and was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown at 4 a.m. on April 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. Lewistown Police Department responded to the area of Woodland Avenue in Lewistown for a report of an armed male breaking into a residence, the report said, and a LPD officer passed a male walking on Electric Avenue who matched the description of the suspect. Officers stopped this male who refused to identify himself and refused to comply with an officer’s order to remain there, the report said, MCRPD responded and identified the male as their suspect. Bonilla had an empty firearm holster; however, officers could not locate a firearm.

Cyclist charged with fleeing, minibike impounded

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers observed two motorized gas-powered minibikes riding in the middle of the street on the 200 block of Valley Street in Lewistown at night without any lights at 10:54 p.m. on April 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. An officer tried to stop a male riding one of the minibikes; however, the subject fled from the officer, the report said, and officers followed the vehicle to the rear of 525 Valley St. where the subject ditched the minibike in a back yard and fled into the residence. Officers had contact with a female who was highly agitated, uncooperative and denied that there were any males inside the residence, the report said, and officers reviewed video from a nearby residence which confirmed the operator ran into the residence. The female then confirmed the male was inside and had him exit the residence, the report said, and the operator exited the residence and was identified as Mason Bulick, 18, of Lewistown. The report said Bulick was positively identified by the clothing he was wearing and he said he ran because he was scared of getting in trouble. Police said Bulick’s minibike was impounded and he is being charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police officer.

Officers investigate report of shots fired near North Grand Street

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of West Fourth Street at North Grand Street in Lewistown for a report of several shots being fired at 11:14 p.m. on April 11, according to a release issued on Thursday. Despite multiple reports being received, officers could not pinpoint the location where the shots came from, the report said, and officers searched the area to no avail.

Lewistown mother, daughter charged after hit and run accident

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a complaint of a hit and run on South Pine Street in Lewistown at 1:09 p.m. on April 12 from Megan Ginithan, 44, of Lewistown, according to a release issued on Thursday. Ginithan and her daughter, Kendra R. Stine, 24, of Lewistown, responded to the Lewistown Police Department to make a complaint. Stine denied that there was a crash and reported another vehicle was “tailgating” her and cut her off, the report said, officers also received a complaint from the other involved party. They reported that they were about to pull out onto Valley Street, while following another vehicle as they were not familiar with where they were going, but Stine was approaching driving at a high rate of speed so they allowed her to continue, the report said. Stine began tailgating the other vehicle then began “brake checking” the vehicle that was following her, the report said, and Ginithan attempted to get out of the vehicle but Stine’s vehicle went into park. The other party went around Stine to get away from her, the report said, and Stine followed them at a close distance and went past two stop signs without stopping during the process. Stine also jumped out of the vehicle and tried to entice them to fight her in the middle of the street, the report said, and the other party had cell phone video which corroborated allegations made about Stine and Ginithan’s conduct. As a result, Stine was charged with reckless driving and disorderly conduct, the report said, and Ginithan was charged with disorderly conduct.

Lewistown man, woman each charged with simple assault, harassment

LEWISTOWN — A Lewistown man and woman were charged with simple assault and harassment by Lewistown Police Deparment officers at 5:39 p.m. on April 12 due to the apparent mutual conflict, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers responded to Central Avenue in Lewistown for a report of a domestic assault that occurred on the 200 block of Bratton Avenue, the release said, and officers spoke with Faith D. Harding, 21, of Lewistown, who reported that she engaged in an argument with her paramour, Nickolas A. Heimbach Jr., 26, of Lewistown. Heimbach reportedly threw her down and she hit her head on a bed, the report said, Harding said she screamed and Heimbach covered her mouth so she bit his hand. Officers did not see any injuries to her head but she did have a bruise on her bicep, the report said, and Harding left the residence and reported the assault from another subject’s residence. Officers had contact with Heimbach who reported he was shoved and scratched by Harding during an argument about her ex-paramour, the report said, and Heimbach reported pushing Harding down to stop the assault and he held her down to calm her down. Heimbach had several scratches on his face and neck, the report said, and officers observed a mark on his finger which he denied was a bite mark.

Area man arrested after incident at fast food restaurant

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to Burger King, located at 133 S. Main St. in Lewistown for a report that Cory J. Harpster, 49, address unknown, was yelling into the drive-thru intercom that everyone was going to die at 10:06 p.m. on April 12, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers contacted Harpster a short time later and he said that he was just trying to get a drink and he frustrated with them, the report said, and Harpster was arrested within a few hours of this incident for similar conduct.

At 1:35 a.m. on April 13, officers responded to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown for a report that Harpster was standing in front of the sally port entrance smoking methamphetamine while also trying to get inside to get a drink. Two uniformed officers arrived and observed Harpster having a conversation with himself while swinging his arms in an animated manner, the report said, and officers spoke with Harpster who was holding a glass meth pipe. Officers gave him several commands to put the pipe down, the report said, and Harpster reached over and began placing the pipe down but then pulled it up to his mouth with one hand, began lighting a lighter with his other hand, and said “I’m gonna’ hit it quick,” as he tried to light the pipe. He was told again to put it down and an officer knocked it out of his hands, the report said, and Harpster got into a fighting stance with his fists clenched. An officer deployed a Taser device which did not immediately incapacitate Harpster, the report said, and the second officer deployed their Taser device which did have the desired effect and Harpster fell to the ground. The officers tried to secure Harpster in handcuffs and he began physically resisting the officers, the report said, and Harpster punched one of the officers in the face at which time the officer began delivering blows in an attempt to stop Harpster’s assault and to help gain control of his arms. Jail staff exited the jail and assisted officer who was wrestling on the ground for more than two minutes, the report said, and Harpster was eventually secured in handcuffs. He was transported to the hospital where he was medically cleared and lodged in MCCF and charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.

Burnham man charged with possession of controlled substances, paraphernalia

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a report of a female with summary warrants playing skills games inside the Uni-Mart at 10:09 a.m. on April 13, 301 Valley St., Lewistown according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers located the female and took her into custody, the report said, and the female was with a male identified as Robert J. Shouey, 30, of Burnham. Shouey had been absconding from probation and probation officers responded to take Shouey into custody, the report said, and Shouey was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. Shouey reported that he had additional methamphetamine concealed in his buttocks; however, he was unable to recover the contraband on scene, police said. Probation transported Shouey to their office where the contraband was recovered and provided to officers, the report said, and Shouey was charged with possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Area man cited for disorderly conduct

LEWISTOWN — A 24-year-old area man was cited for disorderly conduct by the Lewistown Police Department after repeatedly leaning out the window shouting several obscenities while waving his middle fingers at officers during traffic stops around Lewistown at 2:45 p.m. on April 14, according to a release issued on Thursday. Hayden Hurst was traveling in a large black Dodge pickup when Hurst came in contact with police the first time then a few minutes later, it happened again on South Walnut Street, the report said. There were pedestrians and several other motorists stopped in the area, the report said, and Hurst was stopped on Valley Street near Ort Valley Road and cited for disorderly conduct.

Lewistown man jailed for warrants, cited for driving under suspension

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were monitoring traffic on Valley Street in Lewistown at 3:48 p.m. on April 14 when a concerned citizen reported suspicious behavior relating to a male subject occupying a U-Haul truck at the adjacent Uni-Mart, according to a release issued on Thursday. Police eventually found the driver, who was identified as Larnard A. Smith, 40, Lewistown, the report said, and Smith had a suspended license and could not name who leased the vehicle. Smith was found to have active warrants out of Sunbury for disorderly conduct and Hackensack, N.J., for a weapons offense with full extradition authorized on both charges, the report said, and Smith was taken into custody and found to possess baggies commonly associated with packaging narcotics. Smith was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrants and he was cited for driving under suspension, the report said, and the U-Haul was towed from the scene.
