Charges held for court in alleged child assault case

MIFFLINTOWN — Felony charges against a man accused of inappropriately touching a minor were held for court Wednesday following a preliminary hearing.

Juan David Perez Sanchez, 38, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joshua Imes on three counts of felony aggravated indecent assault of a child, along with six counts each of indecent assault of a person less than 13 and corruption of minors.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the Pennsylvania State Police, troopers received a report March 13 regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child at a residence on Path Street in Mifflin.

Investigators said the alleged victim, now 12, reported being assaulted multiple times between the ages of 9 and 12. Police allege the defendant inappropriately touched the child on multiple occasions, including during car rides to medical appointments and before school.

Perez Sanchez is being held at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail. A formal arraignment date in Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas had not been scheduled as of Wednesday, according to court documents.
