Beltz to Speak on 130th Pennsylvania Regiment
STATE COLLEGE — The Central Pennsylvania Civil War Round Table will meet Tuesday, May 5, at 7 p.m. in the Activities Room of the South Hills School of Business & Technology, 480 Waupelani Drive.
The featured speaker will be Terry Beltz, who will present “Unclaimed Valor: The History of the 130th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers.”
Beltz’s presentation will focus on the regiment formed after Gov. Andrew G. Curtin’s July 4, 1862, call for additional men to serve during the Civil War. His research includes letters written by the regiment’s commander, Col. Henry J. Zinn, to his wife before he was killed at the Battle of Fredericksburg on Dec. 13, 1862.
Beltz, a retired Army colonel with an interest in Civil War history, is the author of a book on the subject that was featured in the November/December 2025 issue of Pennsylvania Magazine book reviews.
The meeting is open to the public. For more information, contact Central PA CWRT President Lynn Herman at (814) 861-0770.
