Kish Park splash pad project to move forward

LEWISTOWN — The long‒anticipated splash pad at Kish Park is officially moving forward.

Supervisors on Monday approved a contract with YSM Architects, Inc. and authorized a $75,000 payment to the firm to design the project layout. Early plans call for a concrete plaza, perimeter fencing and signage.

Township Manager Kelly Shutes said she expects the design phase to be completed within a month. Once finished, the township will have a full picture of what the splash pad will include. No opening date has been set.

While the splash pad remains in development, park‒goers can expect other activities this summer. Supervisors approved a park‒use application for the Embassy Fair, scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 through Saturday, June 6. Shutes noted that the mini golf course should be operational by then and recommended keeping it open during the fair.

Supervisors also approved a payment of $4,233.86 to SLC Excavating, LLC for work related to the mini golf project. In addition, they issued a notice to proceed with the electrical contract for the course with Lepley Electric Contractors.

Two additional park‒use applications received approval:

• The Bob Perks Fund Relay for Life on May 9, 2026;

• The Mifflin County Regional Police Department’s National Night Out on Aug. 4, 2026.

In other business, supervisors voted to terminate the township’s contract with BVNA and authorized Shutes to solicit proposals from other service providers.

Starting at $2.99/week.
