LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the death of Floyd Wengerd, 26, of McAlisterville following a hunting-related incident on Dec. 2 in Juniata County.

According to the report, Wengerd was hunting at approximately 8:20 a.m. when he sustained a gunshot wound to the right hip. He was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:14 p.m. after extensive life-saving measures.

Coroner Andrea L. Alcalde determined the cause of death to be hypovolemic shock due to a penetrating gunshot wound to the right hip. The cause of death has been ruled accidental.
