LEWISTOWN — Whether it’s Black Friday or any day, sometimes parents just need time to get shopping or other errands or chores done.
The Pine Glen Alliance Church in Lewistown and Christian Union Church Family Life Center in Mount Pleasant Mills are offering the perfect alternative on Black Friday, or this Friday.
They are just two of the things to check out this weekend, if you are looking for something to do:
Black Friday Gym Day
Pine Glen Alliance Church, located at 1058 Route 103 North, Lewistown, will sponsor a Black Friday Gym Day from 9 a.m. to

1 p.m. in the church gym for ages 6 to 12. There will be a variety of activities, including open gym, Christmas games, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, Bible lesson, singing and Lunch. The event is free and is intended to give parents a chance to shop or get some errands done. Registration required. Call to register (717) 899-7740 and leave the names and ages of children and a parent’s name and phone number. A registration form will need to be filled out the day of the event.
Free Kids’ Fun Day
Need a day off? Have some errands to do, holiday shopping to take care of, or just want a little break? Christian Union Church Family Life Center, 5230 Route 104, Mount Pleasant Mills, has organized a free kids’ fun day on Black Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 4 to 13. Your child will receive three balanced meals, adult supervised crafts, games and movies. This event is open to the public, but registration is required. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (717) 839-7992 to register.

• Christmas in the Park, sponsored by the Richfield Lions Club, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Basom Park, 6972 Heister Valley Road, Richfield. More than 100 vendors provide the perfect opportunity to work on that holiday shopping, with a wide selection for everyone on your list. Fresh wreaths, quilts and so much more. Small Business Saturday at LCC
Support small businesses in the Juniata River Valley by stopping at the Lewistown Country Club, 306 Country Club Road, Lewistown, on Saturday for Small Business Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Discover great food and good deals from local businesses, and kick off your holiday shopping at the same time.
Volleyball tournament at EJHS
Bump, set and spike for a great cause from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at East Juniata High School in Cocolamus for the Helping Hands of Juniata County’s Volleyball Tournament Fundraiser. Grab your friends and come on out for some fun on the court. Whether you’ve got skills or just want to play for fun, this event is all for a great cause and a great time. Doors open at noon, with the first match at 1 p.m. Admission is $2 per person and ages 2 and under get in free. $10 per person to play, with the team size is a minimum of seven and max of 10.
