LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Police Department was unanimously approved as an accredited law enforcement agency in Pennsylvania by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission during a meeting in Camp Hill on Oct. 23.

This report was presented to the PLEAC board with Lewistown Police Chief David Clemens, Executive Officer Rich Leight, Sgt. Matthew Lynch and Cpl. David Vallimont attended the meeting as representatives of the department. According to a release, this accreditation would not have been possible without the efforts provided by Clemens, Leight and consultant retired Capt. Chris Fischel, of the State College Police Department. The period of accreditation is valid for three years.
