The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•5K Walk/Run -- Registration opens at 7 a.m., run begins at 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9. Middleburg Firemen's Field, Middleburg. Hosted by Middleburg Kiwanis. $30 early-registration includes a free tee shirt if postmarked by Aug. 2. Applications are available on the Middleburg Kiwanis 5K Facebook page. •Graceful Soles Shoe Bank -- 9 a.m. to noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
•Mifflin County Democratic Committee coffee chat -- 10 a.m. to noon, Longfellow Community Building, 2216 Rte. 103 N., Lewistown.
•LGHS Class of 1965 luncheon -- 11 a.m., Sal-lee's Dream. Spouses and friends are welcome.

•Milroy American Legion Auxiliary No. 287 monthly breakfast -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or sold out. Eggs, bacon or scrapple, hash browns, toast, fresh fruit, coffee, OJ and milk. Cost is $10. Funds support programs for veterans and the community.
•Ham dinner -- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., dine in or takeout, McClure Volunteer Fire Company. Menu: ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, two vegetables and assorted desserts. Costs is: 5 and under: free, 6-12: $6, 13 and over: $14.
•Beavertown Historical Society Museum -- 1 to 3 p.m., Beavertown Borough Building, 111 W. Walnut St., Beavertown. Features Ted Herman's World War II exhibit, showcasing military uniforms and additional wartime artifacts. •Indians and ice cream -- 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, Tuscarora Academy Museum, 472 Academy Road, Mifflin. The Perry County Historical Society will display historical and Native American tools and weapons. The ice cream sundae fundraiser benefits the Tuscarora Academy Museum.
•Crooner and Co. Swing Band concert -- 2 p.m., St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown. Music by Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr., Michael Bublé, Tony Bennett and many more. A free-will offering will be collected to help feed needy schoolkids this summer.
