Mount Union man flees scene

after losing control of vehicle

HUNTINGDON — A 20-year-old Mount Union man is charged with leaving the scene of an accident after losing control of his vehicle and striking a legally parked tractor truck at 10:10 p.m. on June 26, according to a Public Information Release Report issued by the Pennsylvania State Police at Huntingdon on Saturday. Nathaniel J. Brown was traveling north on Loop Road between the intersections with Grove and Germany Valley roads in Huntingdon in a 1990 Ford F-150XTL truck when he lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a left curve in the roadway, the report said. Brown’s vehicle spun and struck a 2019 Western Star 5700XE tractor truck that was legally parked off the left shoulder of the roadway, police said. Brown then left the scene without providing any information, police said.

Two Harrisburg men escape injury after accident in Wayne Township on June 11

MOUNT UNION — Two Harrisburg men escaped injury during a one-vehicle accident at 2:30 p.m. on June 11 on Newton Road in Wayne Township, near the railroad bridge, according to a Public Information Release Report issued by the Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown on Friday. Francier Bonilla-Guzman, 19, and Juan Dav Piris Mercedes, 20, both of Harrisburg, were traveling in a 2018 Freightliner when Bonilla-Guzman, who was identified as the driver, attempted to turn around on Newton Road due to being unsure if the vehicle would clear the railroad bridge, the report said. As he did so, the top of the Freightliner’s roof hit an overhead wire, causing the wire to break, the report said, and it also damaged the roof of the vehicle. Both men were wearing seat belts, the report said.

Lewistown Police seeking information about South Pine Street hit and run

LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Police Department is encouraging anyone with information about a hit-and-run accident involving a red Jeep around 9:30 p.m. on June 19 on the 100 block of South Pine Street to contact them, according to a release issued on Saturday. A red Jeep was legally parked and had damage to the driver side mirror, the report, and it also had a scratch on the door with blue paint from the vehicle that hit it. Driver crashes in area of East Fleming

Avenue due to alleged medical episode

LEWISTOWN — An unidentified 59-year-old female driver was transported to the hospital after a reportable crash in the area of East Fleming Avenue and Lindbergh Way in Lewistown at 8:33 a.m. on June 22, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Saturday. Officers responded to the scene and found a vehicle had crashed into a pole with entrapment, the report said. Officers could not open the door and had to break a window to gain access to assess the female’s condition, the report said. The female was not conscious; however, she had a pulse and was breathing, the report said, and first responders arrived and transported the female to the hospital. The driver appeared to have crashed due to a medical condition, the report said, and the disabled vehicle was towed from the scene.

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers received a report at 9:33 a.m. on June 24 that a red and black Fun Hang e-bike was stolen from a residence on the 700 block of South Wayne Street in Lewistown during the overnight hours, according to a release issued on Saturday.

Police investigating alleged

counterfeit currency

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers to the Nittany Minit Mart, located at 403 E. Walnut St. in Lewistown after an unidentified male customer tendered what staff believes to be counterfeit currency at 4:11 p.m. on June 24, according to a release issued on Saturday. The customer requested change for allegedly counterfeit $100 and $50 bills, the report said. Staff provided the male change but became suspicious of the legitimacy of the bills, the report said, and the case is under further investigation pending contact with the suspect.

Entriken man lodged in jail for warrant and charged with resisting arrest

LEWISTOWN — Joseph J. Yocum, 43, of Entriken, Huntingdon County, was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown and charged with resisting arrest after an incident at the Giant Food Store, located at 200 S. Dorcas St. in Lewistown at 4:05 a.m. on June 25, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Saturday. Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Giant when they learned the occupants of the vehicle were not licensed to drive and they contacted Yocum to pick them up, the report said. Officers were aware that Yocum had an active warrant relating to a parole violation for a felony criminal trespass conviction and attempted to arrest him when he appeared, the report said. Yocum denied his identity, despite wearing a name tag from his employer that said “Joe” on it, the report said. Yocum failed to obey orders and resisted arrested, so officers used force to secure him in handcuffs, the report said. Yocum continued to bang his head on the inside of the patrol vehicle after being secured inside, the report said.

Police investigating theft

of tools from Ridge Road home

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a burglary complaint at a residence on the first block of Ridge Road at 7:29 a.m. on June 25, according to a release issued on Saturday. A subject was doing construction at a residence in this area and they left tools inside the building on June 22, the report said. About a week later, they noticed that someone broke out a rear window and stole several power tools from inside the residence, the report said. Lewistown police look into burglary

of house on Fairview Avenue

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers are investigating a reported burglary of a house on the 500 block of Fairview Avenue at 3:49 PM on June 25, according to a release issued on Saturday.

The residents left their house for a short time and returned to find a backpack in their driveway, the report said, and discovered that someone entered their house through an open garage door and removed various items to include jewelry. The report said neighbors reported seeing a suspicious person in the area.
