LEWISTOWN — Preparations are underway for the 2025 Juniata River Valley Independence Day fireworks display, according to the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, who are organizing the event, slated for June 28.
But before they can occur, the Chamber must be able to cover the cost, which has always been funded by community donations..
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we are now less than $1,000 away from reaching our goal,” said Rhonda Kelley, the Chamber’s executive director..
Kelley said the cost of the fireworks display this year is about $20,500 — about $500 higher than last year.
“We know it’s a significant figure, but we also know how much this celebration means to our community. For many local families, this is their only chance to experience a fireworks display close to home. With everyone pitching in, we can make it happen,” said Kelley.
The Juniata River Valley Independence Day Fireworks Display will once again be launched from the field beside the Mifflin County Industrial Development Plaza beginning at 9:30 p.m. and lasting about 30 minutes.
A rain date is set for Jan. 29.
Donations of all sizes are welcome and every dollar helps, Kelley said.
Contributions can be mailed by check (payable to JRVCC Fireworks Fund) to: Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce Historic Courthouse 1 West Market Street Lewistown, PA 17044 Or donate online at jrvchamber.com.
“Let’s join forces to keep this tradition alive and create special memories for generations to come,” she added.
All donations go directly to the fireworks display. Any contributions that exceed this year’s cost will be set aside in a dedicated fund to help ensure next year’s celebration continues to light up the sky.
“The Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce believes it is important to continue organizing our local Independence Day fireworks display because it brings the community together in celebration of our nation’s founding and the freedoms we all cherish,” said Kelley. “This event serves as a unifying tradition that honors our shared history while creating joyful, lasting memories for families, neighbors, and visitors.”
