MEXICO -- The Juniata County Dairy Princess Pageant will celebrate its 49th year at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.
The pageant will be held at the Walker Grange located at 611 William Penn Hwy., Mifflintown (village of Mexico). This year, Kera Bentz will be crowned the new 2025-26 Dairy Princess at 3 p.m.
The pageant program will include speeches, skits, and awards, followed by ice cream sundaes.
Everyone is welcome to attend and hear presentations about dairy promotions in the past year and about the benefits of dairy products.
Juniata County Dairy Promotion also has a court of seven young people, ages 7 to 17 years old, who will also promote dairy.
The Dairy Princess is available to speak at events, supply dairy products at events, as invited. Her biggest duty throughout the year is giving school promotions with grades from K-5.
Schools invite her to speak, present a dairy demonstration and hand out promotional materials (erasers, pencils, etc.) and often a dairy product.
"Promotions are given so the public is aware of how dairy products are produced on the farm and the benefits of the 13 essential vitamins and minerals that are found in dairy products", said Linda Geissinger, secretary of Juniata County Dairy Promotion.
