MIDDLEBURG -- District Attorney Heath W. Brosius has announced the sentencing of Robert Bowen, III, 25, of Selinsgrove, by President Judge Lori Hackenberg on Monday.
Bowen was sentenced to 25 years in a State Correctional Facility for charges related to the possession and dissemination of child pornography.
Bowen accessed child pornography using his cell phone in June and December of 2023. He used Facebook Messenger and an app called "telegram" to retrieve and send the materials.
During the commission of these crimes, Bowen was on Adult Probation with Snyder County for Indecent Assault which was a Megan's Law/SORNA offense requiring registration.
Bowen pled guilty to the child pornography charges and has been sentenced according to Pennsylvania's mandatory sentencing statutes for individuals convicted of Megan's Law/SORNA offenses.
District Attorney Brosius reports "Pennsylvania law requires a mandatory sentence of 25 years for individuals who commit these crimes while they are already on supervision for SORNA/Megan's Law offenses."
DA Brosius continued "President Judge Hackenberg also determined that Mr. Bowen would be classified as a Sexually Violent Predator and would be required to register with Megan's Law/SORNA for the duration of his life."
DA Brosius commented, "I want to thank the Pennsylvania State Police, Snyder County Adult Probation, and the Northeast Computer Crimes Unit for sharing information and working together so efficiently to bring about this conviction."
