LEWISTOWN — At the conclusion of the Christmas season, Rodgers Jewelry will be shutting its doors after serving the people of Mifflin County for 72 years.

“It feels good to be a 3rd generation small business owner,” explained current owner, Dave Servinsky. “I have been in the store since I was a kid and I love meeting new people who have done business with my family for years.”

Rodger’s Jewelry store has been a small “mom and pop shop” in Lewistown since it was founded by Tony and Wilda Servinsky in 1952.

The store was destined to be a family run business; all six of the Servinksky’s children worked in the store at some point during their school years.

In the late 1980s, their son, Rob Servinksy took over the business. He spent over 35 years dedicating his time to his parents legacy before his passing in May of 2024.

Upon his father’s passing, Dave Servinsky took over the family business with the help of his uncle, Tim Servinsky.

“Over the 72 years we have been in business, my family has been proud to serve the local community and give people great service at great prices,” explained Servinsky.

As the oldest jewelry shop in Lewistown, Rodger’s Jewelry has served many people in the community and has been a friendly face to all who walked through their door.

“We have always tried to have a personal relationship with our customers and actually get to know them and their families,” shared Servinsky. “We treat everyone like an old family friend and enjoy the conversations we have with people as much as doing business with them.”

Being a third generation business owner, Servinsky has had encounters with customers who had purchased from his predecessors or had parents or grandparents that had done business with the shop in prior years.

“I had a couple recently celebrating their 50th anniversary, and they told me they bought their wedding set from my grandfather when they were 19, and were now buying 50th anniversary rings from me,” shared Servinsky.

Unfortunately, after years of dedication and sentimental memories, Rodger’s Jewelry will be closing its doors on Dec. 24.

“My father and grandfather were both highly skilled jewelers and watch repairmen, and were truly masters of their craft,” explained Servinsky. “Unfortunately, although I had worked there for 3 years after high school, I decided to pursue a different career path. I never developed the master skill set that my father and grandfather had in this business.”

Servinsky said it “breaks [his] heart” to close the family business.

While it is sad to say goodbye to a piece of town history, Rodger’s Jewelry will forever be remembered for the welcoming, family and customer oriented atmosphere that was built over years of service to our small town.

Starting at $2.99/week.
