Republicans hold lead in Mifflin Co.
LEWISTOWN — Following Tuesday’s election, the Republican party led all categories on the ballot in Mifflin County, according to unofficial election results.
Former Republican President Donald Trump was the top vote getter in Mifflin County; out of more than 17,000 ballots cast, Trump took 14,255 votes, compared to Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who received 2,716 votes.
The Libertarian party candidate Chase Oliver took 66 votes and the Green party candidate Jill Stein accumulated 43 votes.
There were a total of 36 write-ins.
In Mifflin County, Republican Dave McCormick led the United States Senate race with 13,609 votes, while Democrat Robert Casey had 2,950 votes.
Following behind was Libertarian candidate, John Thomas, with 247 votes, Green party candidate, Leila Hazou, with 94 votes, and Constitution party candidate, Marty Selker, had 71 votes.
There were a total of six write-ins for the United States Senator.
In the Attorney General race, Republican Dave Sunday had a lead of 13,849 votes in Mifflin County, as opposed to Democrat Eugene Depasquale’s 2,586 votes. Libertarian candidate, Robert Cowburn, had 226 votes, Green Party candidate, Richard Weiss, accumulated 100 votes, Constitution party candidate, Justin Magill, had 67 votes, and Forward Party candidate, Eric Settle, received 37 votes.
There were a total of four write-in’s for Attorney General.
In Mifflin County, Republican Tim Defoor led the Auditor General race in Mifflin County with a total of 13,801 votes. Democrat Malcolm Kenyatta received 2,386 votes. Other candidates include Libertarian, Reece Smith, with 311 votes, American Solidarity Party’s Eric Anton with 48 votes, and Constitution Party’s Bob Goodrich with 171 votes.
There were 11 write-ins for the Auditor General.
In the race for State Treasurer, 14,041 of Mifflin County votes went to Republican Stacy Garriety with Democrat Erin McClelland following in second place with 2,330 votes. Libertarian candidate, Nickolas Ciesielski, accumulated 250 votes, the Constitutional Party candidate, Troy Bowman, had 108 votes, and the Forward Party candidate, Chris Foster, received 51 votes.
There were only eight write-ins on the ballot for State Treasurer.
Other races such as Representative in Congress, Representative in the General Assembly 85th Legislative District, and Representative in the General Assembly 171st Legislative District were all taken by the Republican Party.
In Mifflin County, Republican John Joyce defeated Democrat Beth Farnham with 14,141 votes compared to 2,634 votes. There were 18 write-ins for Representative in Congress.
Republican David Rowe accumulated 4,310 votes, leading the General Assembly 85th Legislative District in Mifflin County votes. Opponent, Democrat Nick Jacobson received 769 votes and there were only three write-ins.
The only name on the ballot for General Assembly 171st Legislative District was Republican Kerry Benninghoff with 10,877 votes, there were 183 write-ins.
These unofficial election results in Mifflin County were recorded as of press time Tuesday evening, with the exclusion of mail-in ballots.
