Halloween isn't officially until next week, but there are certainly an abundance of trick- or trunk-or-treats to get you in the spooky spirit (and satisfy your sweet tooth).
Check out these five Things to Do this weekend, along with a smorgasbord of non-holiday events. There might even be a Travis Kelce sighting at the Juniata Valley YMCA (no, not really). Just kidding.
Halloween events
• Safe Night in Lewistown, 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, downtown Lewistown. Businesses and organizations will be lined up in downtown Lewistown, ready to hand out treats to the kids.
• Trunk or Treat in East Salem, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, East Salem Community Church, 7398 Route 235 Mifflintown, rain or shine. Enter using road by the firehouse.
• Haunted hayrides, 7 to 10 p.m.. Friday and Saturday, Bannerville Fire Co., 7547 Stage Road, McClure. Cost is $10 for ages 18 and older, $8 for ages 13 to 17, $6 for ages 5 to 12 and free for ages under 5. Handicapped capability. For more information, call (570) 658-6477.
• Trunk or Treat at Krawl Works, 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Krawl Works and Strohecker's Screenprinting, 305 S. Logan Blvd., Burnham. Vendors will be on site. Kids can vote on their favorite scary ride. Proceeds benefit Peaceful Mind Veterans Adventures.
• Fall Family Fun Fest and Annual Halloween Parade, 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Basom Park, 6972 Heister Valley Road, Richfield. All kids activities are free. Lunch and baked goods stands available. Hayrides and activities from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Annual costume contest at 2 p.m. Bring camera to take photo in front of backdrop. Sponsored by Richfield Women's Club.
• Trunk or Treat in Reedsville, 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Juniata Valley Council, 9 Taylor Drive, Reedsville.
• Kids Halloween Party in Middleburg, 4 p.m. Saturday, Middleburg Moose Lodge No. 1229, 235 Grand St., Middleburg.
• Trunk or Treat in Evendale, 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Evendale Community Park, 3237 Middle Road, Richfield. Hosted by Church of the Open Door. If inclement weather, event will move to church.
Halloween in the Park at Greenwood Furnace, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Greenwood Furnace State Park, 15795 Greenwood Road, Huntingdon. Enjoy Halloween-themed games and activities, including Puking Pumpkins, Frankenworms, Pumpkin Bowling, Ring Toss, S'more Station and more. Trick-or-Treating at campground along with campsite decorating contest. Free.
Trunk or Treat at Fremont Fire Department, 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Fremont Fire Department, 8641 Route 104, Mount Pleasant Mills. Local groups and businesses will give candy and treats to kids, while the fire department will have treats and light refreshments. Open house and fire truck rides also offered.
Juniata Elementary PTO Trunk or Treat, 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, parking lot at Juniata Elementary School, 75 Seventh St., Mifflintown, rain or shine. Will be moved inside if inclement weather.
Granville Fire Co. Trunk or Treat, 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, 307 Granville Road, Granville. Admission is by donation. Proceeds benefit fire company.
Trunk or Treat at Evangel Baptist Church, 5:30 p.m. Sunday, 375 W. Fifth St., Lewistown. Dress up in your favorite costume.
Meals and more
Turbett Grange Pot Pie Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, 12561 Route 333 East, Port Royal. Ham and chicken pot pie will be sold for $12 per quart. There will also be homemade pepper slaw and baked goods available. Food will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Breakfast buffet, 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Richfield United Church of Christ, Church Street, Richfield. The all-you-can-eat meal costs $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and free for ages under 6. Takeout is available. Proceeds benefit East Juniata High School 11th-grade student Jonah Hess and family.
Benefit basket raffle
The Milroy Hose Co., 190 College Ave., Milroy, is having a benefit basket raffle from 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Proceeds benefit Debra Homlish, who is dealing with health issues and lost her home to a fire in mid-August.
Taylor Swift Party
No, Travis Kelce won't be visiting Burnham, but the Juniata Valley YMCA, 105 First Ave., Burnham, invites children to dress up in a pop-inspired outfit and enjoy making friendship bracelets, doing karaoke, crafts, games and taking Polaroid photos. Event is 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. Find more information on Facebook.
