Calendar
The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Beef vegetable soup sale — Pick-up noon-6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, Fellowship Hall of the Reedsville Lutheran Church (Logan and Pearl streets, Reedsville) during holiday bazaar. Cost is $7 per quart. To pre-order: call (717) 250-0985. Leave message with name, phone number and quantity desired. Order deadline is Thursday, Oct. 31.
•Mifflin County Chapter PASR luncheon meeting — noon, Thursday, Nov. 7, Birch Hill Event Center, Burnham. Program will be the annual bazaar to benefit scholarship program. Menu: mixed greens salad, lemon pepper fish, stewed tomatoes, macaroni and cheese, pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Cost is $16. •Homespun Christmas bazaar and turkey dinner — 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, First United Methodist Church, 3rd and Dorcas streets. Dinner tickets cost $12 for adults, $3.50 for children 5-11 and are free for ages 5 and under. Tickets available at church office from 9 a.m. to noon or by calling (717) 513-3915.
•Turkey dinner — 3-5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy in Maze, (Rte. 235, approx. 2.5 miles east from East Salem). By donation. Drive-thru. Pre-order take-out only. Menu: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and green beans with a slice of pumpkin pie. Pre-order by calling the church at (717) 463-2389 by Nov. 1.
•Holiday bazaar pie sale — Friday, Nov. 15 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8 a.m.-noon, Port Royal Lutheran Church. Soups sold by the quart (chicken corn, ham and bean and beef vegetable) and frozen homemade ready-to-bake pies (mincemeat, apple crumb and carmel apple) and mincemeat filling must be ordered by Nov. 8. •Freedom Avenue UMC and Shining Light Through the Darkness Soup Sale — Friday, Nov. 15, Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church. Soups: chicken corn, ham bean, beef vegetable, stuffed pepper, French onion and creamy potato. Cost is $8 per quart. Baked goods available for purchase. Pick up will be between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Friday, Nov, 15 at the Freedom Avenue UMC Fellowship Hall, 511 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham.
