Second Annual Bark in the Park
It will definitely be a dog day afternoon (more like a midday technically) at the Second Annual Bark in the Bark from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Held at Walker Township Community Park in Mifflintown, there will be vendors, food, nail trimming for pets, Chinese auction and a DJ. This year's theme is "Down on the Farm." Dress your pet for the pet parade. The first 50 guests will receive a goody bag. For more information, find them on Facebook.
Fairs and festivals
Reedsville Apple Festival: From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Bender Park, located on East Tony Street, Reedsville, will be filled with apple aromas, with homemade apple butter, apple dumplings, cider and an apple pie baking contest. Plus, activities for kids, the Little Miss Reedsville Pageant and piglet cuddling.
Fall Roundup: Hosted by the Promise Ranch Ministries, 106 Meadow Lane, McAlisterville, enjoy live music, pony and wagon rides, hay bale throwing contest, cornhole, critter corral and concessions from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. For more information, visit www.promiseranchministries.com.
Kids Game Day: Lewistown Church of Christ, 315 S. Pine St., Lewistown, hosts Kids Game Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Activities include cornhole, water balloons, face painting, glider challenge, frisbee bubble toss, chalk drawings, sidewalk chalk drawing, sack race and ring toss, plus a water slide if weather permits. Take a chance by picking a lucky duck from the wading pool to win a prize. There will be a story about bullying and how to deal with it. Snacks provided and bottled water available. Admission is free.
A Day of Hope
With September being National Suicide Prevention Month, A Day of Hope will be hosted by the Hungry Run Distillery, 10 Ridens Road, Lewistown. Find food, music and a basket raffle. The event benefits the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
Goose Day Rally
Mark your calendars as the Goose Day Road Rally is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Get your team of family or friends together and join the adventure, taking part in a fun-filled day of searching for clues and answering questions in a scavenger hunt throughout Mifflin County. Registration is at Rothrock Playground, Route 22, McVeytown, from 8 to 9 a.m. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for ages 6 to 12; and free for ages 5 and under.
