Emergency preparedness class for kids
Emergencies happen, no matter how hard we try to prevent them. Sign up for a free Emergency Preparedness Class for Kids, sponsored by Helping Hands of Juniata County, to make certain they are prepared and know how to help. This class - geared for ages 8 to 16 - is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Port Royal Community Building, 212 Fourth St., Port Royal. The class includes talking with a 911 dispatcher; learning basic CPR and first-aid skills; common tools used on an ambulance and fire safety demonstrations; and learning to recognize and handle dangerous situations or people. Stone Arch Players
present "The Sweet Delilah Swim Club": The Stone Arch Players' hilarious and touching comedy, "The Sweet Delilah Swim Club," opens Friday at the Theatre in the Park at Kishacoquillas Park in Lewistown. Five Southern women, whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team, set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships. Free from husbands, kids and jobs, they meet at the same beach cottage, the "Sweet Delilah" on North Carolina's Outer Banks to catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's affairs. The Sweet Delilah Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through May 18 and 2 p.m. Sundays, May 12 and 19. Tickets cost $12 and can be requested by calling (717) 248-2224 or e-mailing

Free movie night with 'The Note III'
Join the Reedsville United Methodist Church, 82 E. Logan St., Reedsville, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday for a free movie night as they show "The Note III." Genie Francis returns as advice columnist Peyton MacGruder in a new film inspired by Angela Hunt's unforgettable characters. A romantic getaway for Peyton and husband King Danville (Ted McGinley) takes an unexpected detour when an infant is abandoned at their doorstep, transforming them into temporary parents. Petyon is reminded of her secret past and relies on her journalistic instincts to uncover the baby's story in this all-new tale of hope, inspiration and second chances. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.
Food for bake sale, supper
Armagh Community Bake Sale: Think you make a great dessert? Prove it! The Armagh Community Bake Sale is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Milroy Uni-Mart, 3 Center St., Milroy. Volunteers are needed. Bring your favorite dessert before 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit community holiday decorations.
Ham Supper: Lower Tuscarora, 54 Church St., Mifflin, is hosting a ham supper from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Takeout only available. Menu includes ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, candied sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, applesauce, roll and cake. Cost is $13 for adults, $7 for children ages 3 to 10 and children 2 and under eat for free.
