The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

• Free Gardening Workshop --
6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, Body and Soul Community Center, Strodes Mill. Leah Fronk, horticulture specialist from Penn State Extension, will be guest speaker. Topics discussed include small fruit production of strawberries, raspberries and other brambles, blueberries and grapes. Also, a short talk by Rose Massie about foliar sprays - what they are, when and how to use them. A free sample of a foliar spray will be available for those who attend. • Dinner theater -- 6:30 p.m.,
May 9-11, Richfield Life Ministries Church. Production of "All's Fair" including a dinner theater. Begins with a meal, including a choice of pulled pork or barbecue chicken, potatoes, mac and cheese, vegetable, dessert. A Saturday afternoon show will be offered beginning at 1 p.m. with desserts only. Tickets: $15 per person, $10 for Children 5-10 years old. The Saturday afternoon show will be $10 for everyone. • Mother's Day dinner -- 11 a.m.-

• Graceful Soles Shoe Bank -- 9 a.m.-noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St. in Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
• Helping Hands, Helping Others drive-thru ribs dinner -- 4 p.m.-? at Beaver Lutheran Church, located along Rte. 522 between Beavertown and
Beaver Springs. Menu: ribs, potatoes, baked beans, coleslaw and a fruit cup. Proceeds benefit Helping Hands, Helping Others' monthly food drive.

• McClure Volunteer Fire Co. roast beef dinner -- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., McClure Fire Hall. All-you-can-eat. Admission is $14 for adults, $6 for children aged 6-12, and kids under 6 dine for free. Hosted by the McClure Volunteer Fire Company.

• R-mb-rger family reunion -- R-mb-rgers of all spellings will be welcomed at the all-family reunion on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Camp Hebron, in Halifax, PA. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. This year attendees will celebrate "The Family Hustle" examining family triumphs over adversity from 1753 to the present. No cover. Contributions and covered dishes appreciated. Prizes for the youngest, oldest and farthest traveled. Luncheon seating is limited. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
