Weekend activities include off-road racing, live music, and trout fishing

Looking for something to do with family or friends this weekend. Whether you want to put the pedal to the metal, enjoy some live musical entertainment or cast a line hoping to snag that first trout, check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:

Racing action hits Juniata County

Friday Night Lights and Off-Road Carpet Championships at Richfield Raceway: Richfield Raceway, 167 Church St., Richfield, hosts a pair of off-road racing action events this weekend. Friday Night Lights starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday. An assortment of solo artists and bands take the stage this weekend:

Mr. Jimmy Trio: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Iron Ridge Brewing, 9074 Route 522, Lewistown.

3 Cents: 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Hungry Run Distillery, 10 Ridens Road, Lewistown.

John White: 7 p.m. Saturday, Hungry Run Wine Bar and Bistro, 10042 Route 522 South, Lewistown.

Austin Rife: 8 p.m. Saturday, Seven Mountains Wine Bar and Stonefly Café, 6 N. Main St., Reedsville.

James Lane Acoustic: 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Brookmere Winery, 5369 Route 655, Belleville.

176ers Dueling Pianos: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Shy Bear Brewing, 35 Meadowbrook Lane, Lewistown.

Statewide trout season opener

Anglers will converge on their favorite fishing holes throughout the Juniata Valley to make their first cast of the season at the official start time of 8 a.m. Saturday. More than three million trout were stocked around the state in the weeks leading up to opening day. To fish for trout, all anglers age 16 and older must have a valid fishing license and a trout/salmon permit. Benefit spaghetti dinner

Fire and Ice Central is hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner for the Christopher Cooper family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. The meal will be served at the Port Royal Lutheran Church, 402 Market St., Port Royal. It includes spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread and homemade desserts. Eat-in or takeout available. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Cooper died in a recent boating accident, leaving behind his wife and children.

Games, games and more

Wine and spirits bingo: The East Waterford Fire Co., 9607 Route 75, East Waterford, will host bingo starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. The doors and kitchen will open at 11 a.m. Participants must be at least age 21. Tickets cost $25 per player and include a nine-pack of 20 games. Stars and Stripes cornhole fundraiser: A cornhole fundraiser to benefit Penn Roosevelt Camp and Lodge will be held at the Mifflin County Youth Park, 110 E. Logan St., Reedsville, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The cost to enter is $20 per person.
