LEWISTOWN -- The Mifflin County School District and Stadium Fundraising Committee have announced the groundbreaking for the new Kish Bank Field at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium at
1 p.m. Tuesday.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the site of the current track in front of Mifflin County High School in Lewistown. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
Mifflin County High School Athletic Director Tish Maclay will serve as the Master of Ceremonies, and those in attendance will hear from Mifflin County School District Superintendent of Schools Vance Varner, who spearheaded the project, and former Pennsylvania State Sen. Jake Corman, who was instrumental in securing grant funding to help make the project a reality.
Additionally, the Stadium Fundraising Committee is entering the final phase of their commitment. Originally, the group pledged $3 million dollars, a total which they surpassed many months ago. Realizing that the potential to do more was attainable, a revised goal was announced of
$4.5 million.
Currently, the group is on its way to achieving the new goal, thanks to the support of local businesses and donors. The final phase of the group's effort will begin shortly with the opportunity for the public to take ownership
in several ways.
Engraved bricks and pavers will be available soon, along with other ways to show your support. For more information, visit www.mc
