Library to host used book sale
BEAVERTOWN -- The 18th Annual Used Book Sale at the Beavertown Library, Walnut Street, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, May 17 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Attendees can purchase a tote bag full of books for $10 and be entered into a free drawing for a tote bag full of books at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Special discount prices will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
Workplace seminar slated for May 28
LEWISTOWN --The Juniata Valley Employee Advisory Council will offer a workplace seminar for employers and staff regarding rules and regulations of Pennsylvania workers compensation.
The seminar will be held 8:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28 at CareerLink of Mifflin County.
Guest speakers include attorneys Queena Baumbach, Rob Baker, Matt Esslinger and Jonathan Spadea of the Chartwell Law Plan.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions
Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. and includes pastries and drinks.
The presentation begins at 9 a.m.The menu includes spaghetti lunch with Cinnabon cake. There will be a Powerpoint program.
The cost to attend is $35 per person. Make checks payable to J/V EAC to pay at the door.

Penn State Extension to host webinar
UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State Extension is offering a webinar, "Living on a Few Acres: Mushroom and Vegetable Production," from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
This session is designed for the beginning producer or homesteader and for those looking to become more self-sufficient in producing mushrooms or vegetables.
The "Living on a Few Acres" webinar series covers basic information on how to get started and provides resources with more advanced information for participants to continue pursuing goals or hobbies.
Participants must register by 8 p.m. April 23 to receive the link to access the live webinar. A $5 registration fee accompanies the event. Registrants also will receive access to the webinar recording.

PFBC to host committee meeting
HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will conduct a meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee on Monday, April 29, beginning at 9:15 a.m. at its Harrisburg headquarters, located at 1601 Elmerton Ave., Harrisburg. The meeting is open to the public.

Summer 2024 Music Picnic Concert Series schedule announced
STATE COLLEGE -- Free live music events will be offered every Sunday evening June 2 to Aug. 25 in State College, with the exception of Arts Fest Sunday.
Concerts will be held at 480 Waupelani Dr., State College. Events are free, family-friendly fun in the outdoor amphitheater and stage at South Hills School of Business and Technology.
