The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Free gardening workshop: Tuesday, April 9 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Body and Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Discussions will be about using compost and mulches in the garden, tips on feeding plants at each stage of growth, planting transplants, planting guides for April and there will be time allotted for sharing transplants. •Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church annual ham and dandelion dinner -- 4 p.m., Troxelville Community Hall, 9186 Rte. 235 in Troxelville. Menu includes fried ham and dandelion greens, oven-browned potatoes, corn, homemade bread and applesauce. Hot lettuce is also available. Takeout available. Adults: $13 includes beverage and dessert. •Burnham Lions Club turkey dinner -- 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or until sold out. Take-out only. Menu: turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn and green beans. Take-out: $12 per dinner. Burnham Lions building, First Ave., Burnham.

•Cash bingo -- doors open at 1 p.m., MACC, 67 Elm St., Beaver Springs. Reserve a spot by calling (570) 658-2276 or at the door the day of the event. Cash prizes will be awarded for each game played with a total of 20 games. Proceeds benefit Tiana Lauver and Sarah Nesbit's trip to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference.
