The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Mifflin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees luncheon meeting -- noon, Thursday, March 7, Birch Hill Event Center, Burnham. Program will be musicians Tim Dunmire and Duane Rhodes. Menu: salad, roll, lasagna with marinara and fruit. Cost is $14. •Free Gardening Workshop - 6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, Body and Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Get your garden off to a good start with tips to ensure healthy growth. Tips on starting seeds, making your own seed pots, rotating veggies for best results and lots more. There will be time for a seed share. Bring extra seeds to share with other gardeners. •Benefit auction -- 8:30 a.m., March 9, LUMINA Center. Raises funds for LUMINA Center programming for youth. The Center is soliciting new and used items of value (clothing, exercise equipment, used mattresses, used cloth-covered furniture and older TVs not accepted. Call the LUMINA Center at (717) 242-288 or email luminacenter18@gmail.com by March 4 to make arrangements. Smaller items can be dropped off at the Center. Larger items can be picked up by LUMINA Center staff by making arrangements. Donations will not be received after March 6 unless prior arrangements have been made.
•Easter egg sale -- 9 to 11:30 a.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until March 15, First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St. in Lewistown. Peanut butter, coconut and butter cream Easter eggs available for $1 each. Sales will be by order only. Orders may be placed in person at the church or by calling (717) 242-1539. Orders will be ready for pick up at the church (use the fellowship hall entrance on Dorcas Street) one week after the order is placed.
•Garden soup sale -- pickup 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, March 15. Stuffed pepper soup and/or cream of potato soup will be available at $8 per quart. Raises funds for the church garden committee.
•Amish wedding-style meal -- doors open at 5 p.m., March 23, Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville. Event supports Central Pa. Clinic for Special Children and Adults. Takeout available at 5:30 p.m. Sit-down dinner served at 6 p.m. Meal includes roasted chicken. Evening includes doctor's comments, acapella singing and silent auction. Meals are by reservation only. Reservation due by March 21 by calling (814) 368-0980. Meal cost is by donation.

•All-you-can-eat breakfast -- 6-10 a.m., Bannerville Volunteer Fire Co., 7547 Stage Road, McClure.
•Family-style community breakfast -- 8-11 a.m., the Granville United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Cost is $10 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under. Provided by Granville UM Men's Club.
•Indoor and outdoor craft show -- 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Juniata Christian School, McAlisterville. Concessions and barbecue chicken meals will be available until sold out. Event supports the athletic program.
•Graceful Soles Shoe Bank -- 9 a.m.-noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St. in Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
•A parent's guide to how money works for kids seminar -- 10 a.m. – noon, Miller Cinemas 6, 46 W. Market St., Lewistown. Presented by Clay Mactarnaghan, an independent representative of Primerica.
•16th Annual Fundraiser for the West Beaver Township Veterans Memorial Pool -- noon., American Legion, McClure. Chinese Auction is noon-4:30 p.m. with drawing at 5 p.m. Basket auction starts at 7 p.m.
Sunday, March 3
•Turkey dinner -- 10 a.m.-1 p.m., or until sold out, Burnham Lions Club, First Avenue, Burnham. Takeout only. Turkey, filling, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans. Takeout $12 per dinner.
•Beavertown Historical Society Museum -- open 1-3 p.m. at Beavertown Borough building, 111 W. Walnut St. and by appointment by calling Karen Burns (570) 658-7385.
•Lewistown Moose Bingo -- Doors open at 4 p.m. Bingo at 6 p.m. Tickets sold at the door.
