First Bakers UMC to host Bible study
LEWISTOWN -- First Bakers United Methodist Church will host a Bible study every Wednesday at 7 p.m. The church will also host a youth group for individuals under age 18 on the first Thursday of each month, except July.

Please join us as we continue to follow Jesus to the cross in the Gospel of Mark. Feb. 25 is the second Sunday in the season of Lent. Pastor Karen will be preaching at Free Spring Church of the Brethren, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. as part of the McAlisterville Ministerium's Lenten Services. This year's theme is "Who is Jesus, Anyway?" All offerings collected during these services will be split between our local fire companies and World Central Kitchen.
Next Sunday, March 3, Pastor James Bricker will lead worship while Pastor Karen is on vacation during our morning service.
Chocolate eggs are now available for order through the season of Lent. To pick up an order form or chocolate eggs, please use the office door Tuesdays-Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-noon. Use the sanctuary door on Sunday mornings. Eggs are $1.50 each. The doors are locked during the week. Please ring the doorbell. We do not take orders online.

Port Royal Lutheran will host six 2024 Community Lenten Teas at 10 a.m. Tuesdays through March 26, 2024 in the social room of the church. The focus will be on the "Artisans Of The Crucifixion" and we will hear the testimony of ordinary people who played an extraordinary role in Jesus's crucifixion. Eco-Palms available for Palm Sunday
McALISTERVILLE -- Make social and environmental justice part of your congregation's Palm Sunday celebration. Responsibly harvested eco-palm branches are now available to congregations across the United States. A harvesting effort underway in Guatemala and Mexico helps protect the environment and provides a fair income for the harvesters. While your church can order palms directly from the website, Pastor Graham Fowler is coordinating Eco-Palm orders for Juniata County. By combining orders into one, we can get a better price. "First Sunday" presentation at St. Mark's Episcopal Church
LEWISTOWN -- On Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m., you are invited to St. Mark's Episcopal Church to hear Forest Fisher, author and teacher from the Mifflin County Historical Society, share his knowledge of the lives of the Native Americans who lived for centuries on the land where St. Mark's is today.
Many relics have been unearthed near Saint Mark's Parish House. There, at the confluence of Kishacoquillas Creek and the Juniata River, the Shawnee People once lived in a settlement historically called Ohesson. The village possessed several dozen families in Colonial Pennsylvania, but artifacts found along these same streams hint at even earlier habitations that extended into the distant past, predating European settlement by many centuries.
Fisher will tell the story of Mifflin County's American Indian past, plus present hands-on artifacts from the McCoy House Museum, illustrative exhibits, posters and handouts. In addition, a series of historic images of Saint Mark's buildings will be on exhibit to help set the scene and establish the close proximity of the church grounds to where the area's earliest inhabitants found the necessities of life.

Catholic Information Night at the Lumina Center
LEWISTOWN -- Those curious about the Catholic Church can attend an information night on Monday, March 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lumina Center, 18 E. 3rd St. in Lewistown. Fr. William Weary and Fr. Richard Groff, priests at Sacred Heart Church in Lewistown, will give brief presentations followed by a question-and-answer session. All are invited. Hymn sing at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church
BELLEVILLE -- The 21st annual hymn sing, sponsored by the Mifflin County Amish Mennonite Historical Society, will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the Valley View Amish Mennonite Church, Apple House Rd., Belleville.
