The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Free Gardening Workshop - 6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, Body and Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Get your garden off to a good start with tips to ensure healthy growth. Tips on starting seeds, making your own seed pots, rotating veggies for best results and lots more. There will be time for a seed share. Bring extra seeds to share with other gardeners. •Benefit auction -- 8:30 a.m., March 9, LUMINA Center. Raises funds for LUMINA Center programming for youth. The Center is soliciting new and used items of value (clothing, exercise equipment, used mattresses, used cloth-covered furniture and older TVs not accepted. Call the LUMINA Center at (717) 242-288 or email luminacenter18@gmail.com by March 4 to make arrangements. Smaller items can be dropped off at the Center. Larger items can be picked up by LUMINA Center staff by making arrangements. Donations will not be received after March 6 unless prior arrangements have been made.
•Easter egg sale -- 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until March 15, First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St. in Lewistown. Peanut butter, coconut and butter cream Easter eggs available for $1 each. Sales will be by order only. Orders may be placed in person at the church or by calling (717) 242-1539. Orders will be ready for pick up at the church (use the fellowship hall entrance on Dorcas Street) one week after the order is placed.

•Free lunch for all -- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Family Ministry Center at First Baptist Church, Rte. 35, one mile north of Mifflintown. Menu: shepherd's pie, salad, roll and dessert. Everyone is welcome.
•Bingo -- 6 p.m., Beale Township Fire Department. Doors open at 5 p.m.
•Single mom support group -- 6:30-8 p.m., New Life Church Cafe, 101 Beech St., Burnham. Dinner served from 6:30-7 for mothers and children. Child care from 7-8 while mothers meet in a group. More information: call or text (717) 437-4946.

•Soup and chicken sale -- 10 a.m.-1 p.m., former Beaver Springs car wash, state Route 522. Barbecue chicken quarter, $5 each. Soup $7 per quart. Includes corn noodle, beef vegetable, ham and bean. Proceeds benefit the Beaver Springs Fire Co.
