Hungry and healthy events are served up this weekend

Looking for something to do with family and friends this weekend? Perhaps if you're hungry or wanting to get healthy, this slate will appeal to you this weekend. Check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:

1. Hungry? Bring Your Appetite

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 518 is sponsoring the Fly-in, Drive-in, Walk-in Breakfast at the Mifflin County Airport, 547 Airport Road, Reedsville, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. For more information, call (717) 899-9138 or find them on Facebook.

At the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown, Boy Scout Troop No. 4 is hosting a Grand Slam Breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. Enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice and coffee. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for ages 5 to 10 and any child under 5 can eat for free with a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased from any Troop 4 scout, leader or at the door.

2. Winter Ball in Juniata County

Double B Quarter Horses of McAlisterville is hosting a Winter Ball and Adult Prom at Stone Ridge Acres, 32184 Route 35 North, McAlisterville from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The ball is for ages 21 and up, and age restrictions will be enforced. Pre-registration is encouraged. Find them on Facebook.

3. Opportunities to Get Fit

Get "Fit for a Cause" from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Juniata Elementary School, 75 Seventh St., Mifflintown, with Zumba gold, fusion, pound, yoga and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Multiple instructors with classes for all ages and fitness levels. Cost is $25 for adults and $5 for ages 8 to 18. Proceeds benefit Juniata High School After Prom.

4. Elks Lodge Chili Cook-Off

The Lewistown Elks Lodge No. 663 BPOE, 229 W. Third St., Lewistown, will hold a Chili Cook-Off Contest at 5 p.m. Sunday. Doors open at 4 p.m. and judging starts at 5 p.m. Chili will be $5 per bowl of your choice, with the highest number of votes being the winner. Open to the public and sign up at bar or text (717) 250-3814. First prize is $100 cash and $25 gift card for second place.

5. Make It a Movie Night

Join Reedsville United Methodist Church, 82 E. Logan St., Reedsville, for movie night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The movie will be "Wonder" and refreshments will be served. The event is free, and anyone is welcome.
