One arrested for child endangerment
LEWISTOWN -- Officers from Lewistown Police Department investigated Saturday, Dec. 9, a report of physical abuse involving a five-year-old.
According to the report, Melody Bailey resided with the father of the victim, Jesse Schupper, in Lewistown, when the abuse took place.
The report states the mother picked the child up from the residence on Saturday and noted extensive bruising on the child's body. She took the child to Penn State Hershey Emergency Department for suspected abuse.
A physician with the Child Protection Team reported that the child had multiple injuries in unusual locations including his ear, torso, buttocks and upper arm. The bruising was described as "unexplained, non-accidental and indicative of child abuse."
The child said Bailey, his father's girlfriend, inflicted the injuries and this was witnessed by Schupper.
Bailey was arrested and charged Thursday, Jan. 11, with endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith.
Woman arrested following theft from Rutters
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a retail theft at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 9, at Rutters on state Route 75.
Police said Jennifer Fu, 39, of Burnham, was charged through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline Leister for shoplifting two kiosk orders valued at $29.74.
Police investigating harassment allegations
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded at about 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, to a reported harassment incident at a residence on North Fifth Street.
According to the report, a 48-year-old Port Royal man is accused of the violation. Police are investigating.
Charges filed against Millerstown man
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at about 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, at a residence on Lower Benner Street.
It was determined that a physical altercation had occurred, and a 35-year-old Millerstown man is facing harassment charges for this disturbance.
