Organization thanks contributors to Kish Park holiday light display

REEDSVILLE -- Shining Light Through The Darkness, with the help of the Barnabas Brothers from St. John's Lutheran Church held its annual banquet Monday evening at the Reedsville Fire House Banquet Hall. The organizations recognized nearly 300 individuals and numerous businesses that dedicated their time and money to make this year's light displays at Kish Park extra special.
Attendees enjoyed food and live entertainment from the "Unusual Suspects." Following the musical portion of the banquet, Shining Light Through The Darkness gave a presentation to acknowledge those that made the 2023-2024 holiday light displays possible.
A total of 4,560 cups of hot chocolate, 2,480 hot dogs and 1,509 bags of chips were handed out at Kish Park during the Shining Light Through the Darkness holiday light display held Dec. 2-Jan. 5. About 17,500 people walked through the light display this year.
"We appreciate all of our helpers whether they were greeters or worked in the snack shop or donated items," said Darla Rickert, chairperson of Shining Light Through the Darkness since 2007. "We were very blessed with a great amount of support."
Also, more than 1000 hours of work went into setting up this five week lighted walk experience.
Darla and her committee with Shining Light Through The Darkness are now looking for volunteers to help with tearing down the Kish Park display this Saturday, Jan. 20. Lunch will be provided for those that would like to help.
Volunteers may show up to Kish Park to assist the organization or may reach out to the Shining Light Through The Darkness Facebook page to confirm tear-down details with members of the organization.
