Lewistown man facing felony charges in assault

LEWISTOWN -- A 23-year-old man was jailed Tuesday after police said he became involved in a domestic assault.

Kasper CJ Kurtz, of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tuesday on charges of strangulation, terroristic threats, false imprisonment and simple assault.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers from the Lewistown Police Department were dispatched to a domestic assault which occurred on the 300 block of Howard Avenue.

The report states that officers detained Kurtz outside of the residence and that he smelled of alcohol.

Police said they observed blood smeared on the wall and multiple bruises and cuts on the victim

Kurtz was held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Jan. 10.
