The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Submit items at least one week in advance via email, events@lewistownsentinel.com; call (717) 248-6741; online, Virtual Newsroom at www.lewistownsentinel.com; or mail or drop off, The Sentinel, 352 Sixth St., P.O. Box 588 Lewistown, PA 17044. The editor reserves the right to edit all submissions.

•Donut sale -- pickup 6 a.m.-1 p.m., Feb. 13, Decatur Fire Cookhouse, North 522, Alfarata. Sugar, cinnamon and sugar and powdered sugar available. $9 per dozen, $5 per half dozen, $4 per dozen donut holes. Order by Feb. 9 by calling (717) 543-0921.

•Chicken pie supper fundraiser at Granville United Methodist Church -- Feb. 17 from 3-5 p.m. To benefit cancer victims. Meals will be eat-in or take-out but they must be preordered. Takeout meals include chicken pie (chicken, filling and potatoes), slaw or applesauce and a whoopie pie. Eat-in meals include chicken pie, slaw or applesauce, a whoopie pie and a drink. Cost is $10 per meal. Call (717) 348-1590 to order, no later than Feb. 9.

•Freedom Avenue UMC and Shining Light Through the Darkness soup sale -- Pick-up between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Freedom Avenue UMC Fellowship Hall, 511 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham. Cost is $8 per quart. Soups available: ham and bean, stuffed pepper, beef vegetable, chicken corn and French onion. Baked goods will be available for purchase. Preorders recommended. •All-you-can-eat-breakfast -- 6-10 a.m., Bannerville Volunteer Fire Company, 7547 Stage Road, McClure.

•Yard sale -- 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Lewistown Senior Center. Food and drinks will be for sale. Proceeds benefit the senior center.

•Klondike Derby -- 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Troop 4 cabin at Seven Mountains Scout Camp.

•Mifflin County Democratic Committee 2024 Democratic Candidates' petition signing -- 10 a.m.-2 p.m., United Steelworkers Union Hall, 519 Electric Avenue, Lewistown.

•Nativity display -- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Free Spring Church of the Brethren. Information: (717) 320-4967.

•Soup and chicken sale -- 10 a.m.-1 p.m., former Beaver Springs car wash. Chicken corn noodle, beef vegetable, ham/bean. Soup is $7 per quart. All proceeds benefit the Beaver Springs Fire Company.

•Community lunch -- 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown. Takeout begins at 12:15 p.m. and is based on availability.

Monday, Jan. 29

•Bingo -- 10 a.m.-1 p.m., McVeytown Senior Center.
