The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Food giveaway -- 10-11 a.m. at Hillbilly Fever carnival grounds, East Sassafras Street, Beavertown, sponsored by Helping Hands, Helping Other Inc. No income guidelines. •Chief Logan High School Class of 1964 brunch -- 10:30 a.m. at Vince's Pizza, Burnham.
•Free community lunch -- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Faith in Christ Community Church in East Waterford. Eat-in event. Menu includes pork, sauerkraut, hotdogs, mashed potatoes and dumplings. Information: (717) 734-3162.

•Mission quilts -- 1 p.m., Yeagertown Senior Center. Sewing skills not necessary. Helpers needed.

•Milroy Lions Club spaghetti dinner -- 4-7 p.m., White Memorial Church fellowship hall, Main Street, Milroy. Cost is $10 per person. Children under 12 are free. Meal includes spaghetti, tossed salad, bread, applesauce, desserts and soda. Proceeds benefit the family of Sam Hostetler to offset the cost of medical bills for their child's surgery that was needed following a serious accident.
•Captain Jack and Mount Union Area High School dinner -- 6 p.m. at Hoss's Steak and Sea House, Lewistown.
•Juniata County Veterans Council meeting -- 7 p.m., American Legion Post 298, Main St., Mifflintown. Attendees do not have to belong to Post 298 or the VFW to be a member of the Veterans Council.
