Looking for something to do with family and friends this weekend? (Or maybe you need a break to get away from the holiday hubbub). Check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:
1. Dryhouse Farm Live Nativity
A Live Nativity at Dryhouse Farm, 53 Dryhouse Farm Lane, Belleville starts tonight and continues through Friday. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on both nights. Admission is free. Free coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. For more information, find them on Facebook.
2. Light Up Little Buffalo
Walk the quarter-mile lighted trail in the picnic area at Little Buffalo State Park, 1579 State Park Road, Newport, and enjoy the thousands of lights and displays. Meet Santa Claus and purchase snacks from food trucks or hot chocolate and homemade cookies from local 4-H clubs. Trail is free to walk; donations accepted. Bring a flashlight. Daily events include Newport School Ensembles (elementary, middle and high school) at 7 p.m. today; and Greenwood's Out of the Blue Swing Choir at 7:30 p.m. Friday. 3. Beale Township Fire Co. Bingo
Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday for bingo at the Beale Township Fire Co., Walnut. Early birds start at 6:30 p.m. with regular bingo to follow. The kitchen will be open.
4. Check out local music scene
If music might put you in the holiday spirit. Dave Gates takes the stage at Shy Bear Brewing, 35 Meadowbrook Lane, Lewistown, at 4 p.m. today. On Friday, Cody Smith performs at Hungry Run Distillery, 10 Ridens Road, Lewistown. For some "Christmas and Holiday Standards," check out JT at noon Christmas Eve at Shy Bear Brewing. 5. Christmas at Calvary
Spend Christmas Eve at a candlelight service with carols and a message from Pastor Sean Moon. The service starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Lewistown, 111 E. Third St., Lewistown. A livestream with carols, candles and a message from Pastor Dan Nold from Calvary Harvest Fields will also take place at 4 p.m. Sunday. A special online message will also be posted on Christmas Day.
