Fire marshal investigating evening McAlisterville blaze

McALISTERVILLE -- The Pennsylvania State Fire Marshall is investigating Wednesday's Main Street fire, which required the assistance of about 100 firefighters to extinguish.
Fayette Fire Company Public Information Officer Glenn Kerstetter said the American Red Cross is assisting 16 people who were displaced by the blaze.
Kerstetter said the fire caused extensive damage to the residential apartment building, but that he wasn't ready to call it a total loss because of its brick construction, but that the roof was destroyed.
Multiple families lived in the residence, which was owned by 3 Main Mac Inc.
A release from Fayette Fire Company states that first responders received the call at about 5:15 p.m. and were able to gain control of the fire -- located at 90 S. Main St -- at 9:19 p.m.
No injuries were sustained in the blaze.
The fire required 20 area fire companies from four counties to extinguish, including Fayette Fire Company, Mifflintown, Delaware Township, Richfield, Thompsontown, Friendship Fire, Beale Township, Fayette Township EMS, Central Juniata EMS, Port Royal EMS, City Hook and Ladder, Chief Logan, Junction, Yeagertown, Heritage, Fremont, Freeburg, Newport, Liverpool and Millerstown.
The fire marshal did not immediately answer calls for comment.
