REEDSVILLE -- Charges were filed against a 60-year-old woman for her involvement in sexually assaulting minors while operating a privately-owned daycare.
Kathleen J. Mowery, of Reedsville, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith Thursday on felony charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person under 13, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, in July, a now-18-year-old female told Mifflin County Regional Police that between the ages of 5 and 11, she attended a daycare at the home of Kathleen and Michael A. Mowery, of 31 Church Street.
The report states that the assaults occurred more than 10 times over a period of several years while she was at the Mowery's residence.
During the assaults, police said that Michael Mowery inappropriately touched the child while Kathleen Mowery was aware of the assault and spoke to the child while it was happening.
Charges were filed against Michael Mowery in August for the same incident.
Mowery posted $100,000 bail on Thursday. She is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for
9 a.m. Dec. 6.
