Looking for something to do with family and friends this weekend? Whether you want to cut a rug or a pattern at a holiday bazaar or craft show, check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:
Winter Wonderland Craft and Vendor Show
Mifflin County Penn Roosevelt Camp hosts their annual Winter Wonderland Craft and Vendor Show at the Mifflin County Youth Park, Reedsville, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be local food trucks and arts and crafts vendors. Children's story time in the Kids Corner is slated for 6 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Free ID kits for all ages will be given away, while other activities include pony rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Admission and parking are free. Holiday bazaars in Reedsville, McVeytown
The holiday season is here and why not kick it off at the Reedsville Lutheran Church Holiday Bazaar, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 E. Logan St., Reedsville. There will be an assortment of baked goods, candies, crafts, handmade goods and apparel and yard sale items. Vegetable beef soup will also be sold for $7 per quart. To pre-order, please call (717) 250-0985 and leave a message with your name, phone number and number of quarts desired.
Join the McVeytown Firehouse on Saturday for its Sixth Annual Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McVeytown Fire Hall, 5696 Route 522, McVeytown. Bring your list and get a jump start on your holiday shopping. Find unique items from local small businesses as well as sweet treats, teas, handmade soap, hand-poured wax melts and candles, home décor, signs, bath and body items, bows for your favorite little one and something for your pets, too. Gift bags for the first 25 customers through the door. Free parking.
The Richfield Fire Co. is holding its 26th Annual Basket and Craft Auction from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse, 38146 Route 35, Richfield. Proceeds benefit the fire company and the auxiliary. The kitchen opens at 4 p.m. Bring a chair. Donations will be accepted at the firehouse from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the end of the auction on Saturday.
Curtain goes up for EJ, Stone Arch Players productions
East Juniata High School presents its fall play, "Sherlock Holmes," at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium, located at 32944 Route 35 North, Cocolamus. Tickets cost $6.25. For advance tickets, visit www.showtix4u.com/event-details/78210.

The Stone Arch Players open the group's 57th season with a comedy-mystery "Death and Taxes" at 7:30 Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Kishacoquillas Park, Derry Township. It runs through Nov. 19. Written by Pat Cook, in the town of Hendricks, they're looking for a murderer during a small-town city council meeting. Denim and Diamonds Mother and Son Dance
Let loose with a yeehaw or dust off that electric slide at the Denim and Diamonds Mother and Son Dance at the Middlecreek Area Community Center, 67 Elm St., Beaver Springs on Saturday. Doors open at 5 p.m., with dancing from 6 to 8 p.m. with Bandstand Bruce. Raffle winners will be announced at 8 p.m. Learn some line dances, instructed by Deb Young. So, come dressed in your best cowgirl and cowboy attire. Tickets cost $11 for Mom and $7 for sons up to age 17. For more information or to buy tickets, call (570) 658-2276. Juniata After Prom Rubber Duck Race
Your rubber duck might be the one, so check out the 2024 Juniata After Prom Rubber Duck Race at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Port Royal Lions Club Park, Port Royal. Each numbered duck costs $10. They are dumped into the stream at one time and the first duck to reach the finish line wins. There's a $500 prize for the winning duck. Email afterpromjhs@gmail.com to request a duck.
