McCLURE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a crash on Sunday, Nov 5 around 2:30 p.m.

The report states that Andrew Smith, 42, of McClure was traveling west on Dormantown Road, Decatur Township, and was negotiating a left hand curve when he lost control of the vehicle and drove off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment. The collision caused the 1999 Ford F250 Supercab to overturn before coming to its final position of rest off the roadway slightly facing east.

Police said Smith was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, sustaining major injuries. The passenger of the vehicle, a 11-year-old male, was wearing his seat belt and is believed to have been injured. Both were transferred to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital where Smith was later airlifted to Danville.

Through an investigation it was determined that Smith was under the influence of alcohol and charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Reed.
