HUNTINGDON -- Looking to get into the holiday spirit? Perhaps a carriage ride at Greenwood Furnace State Park in Huntingdon might do the trick.
Maybe making and taking crafts and ornaments, or toys of the past with the Metzel family. Or, enjoying holiday music with refreshments with homemade cookies by the Stone Valley Community Charter School.
There will be all of that, plus more at this year's Greenwood Furnace State Park Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at the Huntingdon County state park, located at 15795 Greenwood Road, Huntingdon.
"It will be fun for all ages, and it should put people in the holiday spirit," said Jen Moore, environmental education specialist at Greenwood Furnace State Park.
Additionally, there will be face painting, along with the visit from Santa Clause. Carriage rides will be available from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., courtesy of MCS Bank.
The Blacksmith Shop, Visitor Center and Gift Shop will also be open during the open house. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages. A $2 donation per person or $5 per family is encouraged.
Proceeds benefit the Friends of Greenwood Furnace State Park toward future park projects.
