The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Submit items at least one week in advance via email, events@lewistownsentinel.com; call (717) 248-6741; online, Virtual Newsroom at www.lewistownsentinel.com; or mail or drop off, The Sentinel, 352 Sixth St., P.O. Box 588 Lewistown, PA 17044. The editor reserves the right to edit all submissions.

• Mifflin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees luncheon meeting -- noon, Dec. 7, Birch Hill Event Center. The program will precede the luncheon. Program will be MCHS music ensemble "Cantare." Menu will be a holiday dinner. Cost is $14. • Breakfast With Santa -- 9 a.m. or 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16 at Milroy Hose Co. No. 1, 190 College Ave. in Milroy. Reservations required. Call (717) 667-2388 by Dec. 6. Cost is a donation. Proceeds benefit a local family.

• Santa's Workshop -- Saturday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or until supplies depleted at Milroy United Methodist Church, 91 S. Main St. in Milroy. Children 12 and under. • Mifflin County Veterans Organization meeting -- 6 p.m., St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St. in Lewistown. Speaker will be Bob Haefner, Career Link veterans employment representative. All veterans are welcome. Light refreshments served.

Friday, Dec. 1

• Community meal -- 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Pine Glen Church of the Brethren fellowship hall. Menu: roast beef, mashed potatoes, filling, gravy, noodles, vegetables and dessert. Eat-in only.

• Bingo -- 6 p.m., Beale Township Fire Department. Doors open at 5 p.m.

• McCoy House Museum -- Open 6-9 p.m., 17 N. Main St., Lewistown. Flute trio from the Lewistown Community Band from 6-7 p.m.
