The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

Submit items at least one week in advance via email, events@lewistownsentinel.com; call (717) 248-6741; online, Virtual Newsroom at www.lewistownsentinel.com; or mail or drop off, The Sentinel, 352 Sixth St., P.O. Box 588 Lewistown, PA 17044. The editor reserves the right to edit all submissions.

• Thanksgiving meal -- New Life Church, 101 N. Beech St. in Burnham will be partnering with Calvary Lewistown, 111 E. Third St. New Life Church will be delivering or providing a meal to be picked-up on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 23. Takeout will be available for pick-up 10 a.m.-noon. Shut-ins can receive free delivery in Lewistown, Burnham, Yeagertown, Reedsville and Milroy. Calvary Lewistown will be providing meals for pick-up or dine-in. Takeout will be available for pick up between 10 a.m.-noon. Dine in is from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 23. Reserve your pick-up or dine-in meals by calling (717) 242-1481 no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 21.

• Mifflin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees luncheon meeting -- noon, Dec. 7, Birch Hill Event Center. The program will precede the luncheon. Program will be MCHS music ensemble "Cantare." Menu will be a Holiday dinner. Cost is $14. All school retirees are welcome.

• Breakfast With Santa --

9 a.m. or 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16 at Milroy Hose Co. No. 1, 190 College Ave. in Milroy. Reservations required. Call (717) 667-2388 by Dec. 6. Cost is a donation. Proceeds benefit a local family.

• Mifflin County Library Board of Directors -- 5:15 p.m., Mifflin County Library, 123 N. Wayne St., Lewistown. Information: (717) 242-2391.

• Book group -- 5:30-6:30 p.m., Mifflin County Library, Kish Branch, 174 N. Penn St., Belleville. The book "Hidden Pictures" by Jason Rekulak, will be discussed. New members are welcome, even if they have not read the book. Information: (717) 935-2880.

• "Identity Theft: What to Know, What to Do" informational session -- 6:30 p.m., Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 109 N. 3rd St. in Mifflintown. State Trooper Christopher Fox, of the Hollidaysburg barracks, will present information on fraud, scams and phishing. The public is invited.

• Juniata Valley Quilt Guild -- 6:30 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown. Making mariner stars. Supplies needed: scissors to cut paper, glue stick, toothpick, eight ½-inch strips of 8 ½ x 11 paper – cut prior to meeting. Bring extra 8 ½ x 11 paper.

Wednesday, Nov. 22

• Bingo -- 9:30 -11 a.m., Lewistown Senior Center.

• CLHS Class of 1966 luncheon -- 11 a.m. at Vince's Pizza in Burnham.

• Mission quilts -- 1 p.m., Yeagertown Senior Center. Sewing skills not necessary. Helpers needed.
